About Us
Founded in 1999, Communities In Schools of Virginia is part of the national Communities In Schools network, sharing the same mission: surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
We provide technical assistance and training to existing local affiliates and assist additional localities in creating and sustaining new Communities In Schools affiliates. Our affiliates partner with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers to provide a coordinated system of integrated student services to the most at-risk students at our schools. Whether it’s food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools is there to help.
